Shirley Lou Lowry (Cameron) age 96, former resident of Leeton, Mo, passed away surrounded by her family on January 22, 2026.
She was born on November 10, 1929 in Pawnee County, NE to William and Beulah (Beebe) Cameron. Shirley and her family moved to Leeton when she was 10 years old. She graduated from Leeton High School and from Kansas City Business School working in a bank in downtown KC for several years.
She was united in marriage with Earl Lowry on March 7, 1948 at her family home outside of Leeton. Together they shared more than 50 wonderful years of marriage. Shirley was a devoted member of the Leeton United Methodist Church and attended for over 80-years. She seldom missed a Bulldog basketball game and was fiercely proud of the teams and cheered for them win or lose. After Earl passed, Shirley worked in several positions in the Leeton Schools including the Early Childhood Program. Many children, now adults, remember Miss Shirley.
Shirley enjoyed spending time with family whether one-on-one or the whole group. She is survived by her daughter Teresa (Max) Mothersbaugh of Unionville, Mo and their children Traci (Ched) Hurley of Trenton, Mo, Marty Mothersbaugh of Lenexa, KS, and Lory (Drew) Passley of Brookfield, Mo, as well as her daughter Lisa (Mark) Walters and their daughter Elizabeth Walters all of Jefferson City, Mo. Additionally, she is survived by Maria, a unique daughter who joined the family from Chile, South America as a foreign exchange student. Maria quickly became and remains a very dear daughter and sister in the family. Shirley is survived by seven great-grandchildren: Scotlin, McKinley, & Mykah Hurley, Logan & Dylan Mothersbaugh, and Kennedy & Kylie Passley, three great-great grandchildren: Bentlee & Banks Thomas and Kovey Young, and three great-great step-grandchildren: Fisher, Tucker & Piper Young.
Preceding her in death were her parents and step-mother Lucille Cameron, mother-in-law Edith (Lowry) Seuell, husband Earl, sister Donna Simmons, and brother Robert Cameron. Additionally, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews as well as multiple brother and sister in-laws.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Sweeny-Phillips and Holdren Funeral Home, Warrensburg, MO. The funeral service, also at the funeral home, will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 11 a.m. A graveside service will be held immediately following the funeral at the Mineral Creek Cemetery in Leeton, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Leeton United Methodist Church. The contributions may be left in care of the funeral home or mailed directly to the church (PO Box 22, Leeton, MO 64761).
