Dixie Carol Trent-Hill was born Oct. 27, 1937 in Sullivan County, Pennville, MO at her parents’ home. She was the daughter of Leland Eugene and Nadine (Bachman) McDonald. Dixie passed away Nov. 1, 2025, at the age of 88 years at the Putnam County Care Center.
In 1955, Dixie graduated from Green City High School. After graduation, she moved to Newton, IA to work. Dixie married Garold Dean Trent on April 14, 1956. Four children were born to this union. They were Pam, Dennis, Brad, and Mark. Dixie and Dean resided in Unionville, MO on a cattle farm where she also raised dogs and worked at the nursing home and worked in Central Supply at the Putnam Co. Hospital until she retired. After 34 years of marriage with Dean, he passed away on April 22, 1990
Dixie was raised in church with her parents and continued her whole life as well as raising their family in church. She was a board member’s wife for years and taught Sunday School classes and CA (youth) leader.
On Sept. 25, 1994, Dixie married Bobby Wayne Hill (Bob) and continued living in Unionville, MO. During their marriage, they ministered in song and teachings at Pennville, Unionville, Novinger and other places. One of the most interesting was at Texas when they ministered to several Mexican people and they had an interpreter. After 25 years of marriage with Bob Hill, he passed away on Aug. 30, 2020.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, Leland & Nadine McDonald, 1st husband Dean Trent, her 2nd husband Bob Hill, and two grandsons.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Pam Torrey and her husband Mark of Unionville, MO; Brad Trent and his wife Sheri of Unionville, MO, and Mark Trent and his wife Trudie of Kirksville, MO; and Grand Children and Great Grand Children; along with Bob’s 3 children Shirley Hankins, Gwen Lax and Jarrod Hill and his Grand Children and Great Grand Children; and Dixie’s brother Tom McDonald & his wife Ellen; Dixie’s sister Nancy Mullenix and many other relatives.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be given to the Pherigo Cemetery.
On Sunday, November 16, 2025, there will be visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 pm with the funeral service at 2:00 pm at the Putnam County Middle School auditorium, 802 South 18th street in Unionville, (please use the entrance by the football field look for the silver awning) Pastor Howard Luscan will officiate the services. Private burial will follow the services. Casady-Luscan Funeral Solutions is honored to care for and minister to the family at this time.
