It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Dee Veach, a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, who left us peacefully, surrounded by his family on July 7, 2025 at North Kansas City Hospital, at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 7 days. He was born on January 31, 1946, to Martha Geneva Clementine (Hurley) Veach and George Lee Veach in Graysville, Missouri. He attended Graysville, Missouri rural schools. John Dee was married to Mary Kay Casady in 1964 and they created four handsome sons together. They later divorced and he married Verna Dean Davis and they created one daughter. They later divorced. He is survived by his loving sons, Rocky (Bobbi), Ron (Tammy), Rick, Brian (Julie), and his daughter, Johnna Schindlbeck (Veach). John also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, along with a cherished collection of stepchildren and their families, all of whom he loved dearly. He never used the terms step or half because they were all his family and he loved us all the same. John Dee dedicated most of his life to his work as a professional driver. He traversed the roads as an over-the-road truck driver, served as a dispatcher and safety officer, drove taxi cabs, and transported patients to the Shriner’s Hospital, where he provided both care and companionship. His contributions to the community continued as he drove for Kirksville Manor Care, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to helping others. John Dee was perfectly imperfect but all who knew him would tell you that he was quick to
make conversation and include everyone in the room. He was hard-working and would lend a hand to anyone who asked. He loved to share jokes and stories of old times, and he had a lot of them. He was a man of great resilience, possessing a quick wit and charm beyond compare. He will be missed by all who knew him.
John Dee was preceded in death by three brothers: Jerry Lee Veach, Gerald Wayne Burns, David Gordon Veach; two sisters: Tina Moots and Linda Sue Bachman; his parents, and grandparents.
The graveside service will be held on Friday, July 11th at 5:00 p.m. at the Rose Cemetery, where we will gather to celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man.
