It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bonnie Louise Thompson, who left this world on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the age of 76. Bonnie departed this life and entered into her heavenly rest at the Boone County Hospital in Columbia, MO where she had been a patient for a few days. She is leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and inspiration that will live in our hearts forever. Bonnie was born on October 24, 1948 in New Kensiengton, Pennsylvania, the cherished daughter of Paul and Vera (Grimm) Shipman.
Bonnie pursued her education as a certified nurses aid, where she displayed a passion for care and concern for the elderly in Davenport, Perry and Centerville, Iowa nursing homes. She enjoyed reading in her spare time especially the Bible. She was a member of the Broadlawn Baptist Church and had attended the Unionville Assembly of God church in the past.
Bonnie is survived by her husband Russell Thompson of Unionville, her children Victoria and Katrina, and 6 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews along with her brothers Mike and Paul Shipman. Bonnie was a pillar of strength and a source of unending encouragement to her family and friends, teaching us all the true meaning of resilience, compassion and the love of Jesus Christ.
Bonnie was preceded in death by parents and her sisters. Though she is no longer with us, we find solace in knowing she is now reunited with those she held dear.
A service to celebrate Bonnie’s life will be held on Thursday, June 12 at 4:00 PM at the Broadlawn Baptist Church in Unionville, MO with Pastor Rich Wills officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories; honoring the extraordinary person who made an indelible mark on our lives. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the family’s choice.
Bonnie will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Bonnie’s laughter, love, and wisdom will remain with us always, a guiding light as we navigate life without her.
Casady-Luscan Funeral Solutions is honored to care for and minister to Bonnie’s family during this time.
