Wayne Leon Veach Jr passed away at home in the early morning hours of May 23, 2025.
Wayne was born June 30, 1941, in Worthington, MO to Wayne Leon Veach and Rowena Deierling Veach. He was soon joined by sisters Beverly Ann and twins, Linda and Sandra. While attending Livonia High School, Wayne met his favorite girl, Sue Ann Lee and they were married in February 1958. After they were married, Wayne entered the United States Air Force, where he served in such places as Mississippi, Texas, Canada, and Missouri. Four years later, he decided to pursue a teaching degree at Kirksville Teacher’s College (now Truman State) in Kirksville, MO. He was the first in his family to obtain a college degree.
Wayne taught a variety of subjects in various schools, but the majority of his years were teaching Special Education in Junior and Senior High. He retired after 30 years of teaching with his final position being in Seymour, IA.
Retirement was a wonderful blend of hunting, gun collecting/ target shooting, surveying his “kingdom” via the four-wheeler with his trusty companion Buddy by his side and spending time with his family. Most importantly, Wayne continued to grow in his faith and the personal relationship with his Savior that he began at the age of 15.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years Sue Veach, son Timothy (Paula) of Ottumwa, daughter Kathy of Urbandale, son Jeremy (Staci) of Centerville, a second “adopted” daughter, Susan, brother-in-law, Gary Ayers, 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and numerous special relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
Services will be held in Moravia at the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene on Tuesday, May 27 at 11 AM with Pastor Terry Chapman officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 am until the service time. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be given to Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene of Every Step Hospice.
Casady-Luscan Funeral Solutions is honored to care for and minister to the Veach family at this time.
