Patricia Ann (Pearson) Boland, age 91 of Unionville, MO passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 5th, 2025 at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville.
Patty was born on December 12, 1933, in Centerville, IA ,the daughter of John Dewey and Victoria Catherine (Vonevich) Hawkins. She attended schools in Mendota. Missouri at the Mayflower Country School and also grade school and high school in Cincinnati, IA, graduating with the class of 1951. She then attended Kirksville’s Teachers College for two years and then on to teach at Country School in Unionville. She later went to work at the Sylvania Plant in Centerville until it closed. She then worked at McGraw Edison for seven years and later worked at Con Agra in Milan, MO for seven years.
Patty married Harry Joe Pearson on September 18th, 1954, and they made their home in Unionville, MO. To this union three children were born: Steven Joe in 1956, Deborah Ellen in 1957, and Timothy Edward in 1969. Her children were her greatest joy in life. She was widowed on June 16, 1978, when Harry Joe was killed in an Accident. Four years later, she met and married Russell J. Boland of Lucerne, MO. He passed away on May 23, 1989, after a battle with cancer. Widowed again, she devoted her time to her home, yard, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her motto was “life goes on.”
Patty is survived by her three children and their spouses, Steven Joe Pearson, and his wife Vickie, Deborah Ellen (Pearson) Hollon and her husband Robbie, Timothy Edward Pearson and his wife, Cindy, all of Unionville. 4 precious grandsons: Joshua Joe and his wife Lori, Matthew Lee and his wife Samantha, Charlie Joe and his wife Mackie, and Mason Lee Pearson all of Unionville, and two precious great-granddaughters Kloey May Pearson and Aubrey Lee Pearson, 2 great-grandsons: Cayde James and Owen Matthew Pearson, a great granddaughter, Merryn Lucille Pearson and a great grandson due this summer. Two special nieces, Margie Stewart and Jennifer Heidenwith along with several nieces and nephews of Cincinnati, IA. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Claire Hawkins, John and Mary Vonevich, her parents, John Dewey and Victoria Catherine Hawkins. Her husband’s Harry Joe Pearson and Russell Boland, her only sister Glenna Mae Wells, and her brother-in-law Lyle Wells, her nephew Jack Wells, her niece Kathy Cullor and her husband John Cullor and her niece, Jean Ann Simms. Two fathers-in-law, Harry Pearson and Johnny Boland. Two mothers-in-law Evelyn Lucille Pearson and Alice Boland, her precious brother Glen Edward Hawkins and his wife Colleen, her half sister and her husband, Mary Ruth Mills and John Mills. And her dear friend for many years, Malinda Garr.
Patty had accepted Christ as her Savior on June 16th, 1968, and was a past member of the Broadlawn Baptist Church in Unionville. Her last request is to her children; “to stay as a family. as we always have and I’ll be with you always and watching my garden grow.”
Patty also stated “the reason I’ve lived so long as I’ve had the world’s best doctor, Doctor William Cassidy DO. He was the best and the greatest.”
Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Unionville Cemetery (north-east end of cemetery) with C.B. Pittman and Howard Luscan officiating. Burial will follow. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers can be given to the Putnam County Memorial Hospital.
